Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sun 🙂
You guys (readers) really responded to my Why I wear Makeup piece. So I think I’ll start doing a “my thoughts” segment. Just to share my random thoughts and engage with you guys on a personal level, so you can get to know little pieces of me 🙂 on this blogging journey. This week I want to talk about making moves, and if you’re waiting for someone to help you do it; stop!
I haven’t lived a long life but, in my 31 years here I have seen a lot, and some of these memories I created I did by myself. It’s great to get a group of friends together and go to the movies, out to eat, on vacation or just pile up on the couch and have a junk food fest, but what are you going to do when those people aren’t around? wait for them to make room in their schedule to do it again? My suggestion to you is get up and make moves! Make your own day, start your own adventure. Is there a movie you want to see? go see it, want to take a dance class? start tapping your little heart out.
I don’t know about you but I don’t want to look back over my life and say “I wish I would have went there”, or “I wonder how that concert was”, or “I wonder what my hair would of looked like if I dyed it that color”. I’m going to look back and say “man I had so much fun when I went to that Jay-Z concert in Madison Square Garden and almost missed the bus going back home” or the first time I went to paint and sip (which sparked my interest to take a painting class at the local community college). I’ve flown across the country by myself and I frequently go out to eat by myself and I still have a good time.
The point I want you guys (readers) to see is that I did it by myself, I created a memory I’ll never forget and I didn’t need anyone to create my happiness for me; I wanted to do something and I did, just like that. Now you may be thinking “I don’t have the money to get up and go or the time”. Well Rome wasn’t built in one day was it? Neither are a lifetime of memories. Meet your needs where you’re at, you want to go to Egypt but can’t afford it start a savings account for it and in the mean time read some books, do a little research so when you can go (and you will) you’ll know where you want to go and what you want to see when you get there 🙂
Don’t get me wrong I love spending time with my loved ones and I’m not trying to discourage you from being with yours, or encourage you to be an introvert lol. However I do want to encourage you to give it a try, take the first step and see what you find; even if it’s only in your backyard. What are you waiting for?
Until next time…
