Hello everyone, Happy Veterans Day!!
Special thank you to those who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces.
Today I want to talk about the importance of supporting one another and knowing your worth. I think social media is a great tool for those of us who blog, vlog, do tutorials and basically anything where we are engaging with the public. It helps to get our name out there and really takes networking to another level. But with that comes a heightened desire for acceptance, followers, and recognition; and when that happens we lose sight of why we started doing what we love to do in the first place.
I’m not going to lie when I first started my blog and my Instagram page (for makeup) I was intimidated by all the others who have gone before me and have gained thousands and millions of followers. I thought to myself “who is going to want to follow my blog? who will want to like my pictures?” Then I realized we all have to start somewhere, at one point they were new too; so what makes my beginning any different? It doesn’t. Just because I don’t have 10k followers doesn’t mean what I do is any less important. We all have talents and gifts that are meant to be shared with one another, what good are they if we keep them to ourselves? That’s why it is important to know your self-worth and know what you bring to the table. Never down play what you can do and who are, because there is no one else that can do what you do, the way you do it! So what there is a bazillion beauty blogs out there, make yours a bazillion and one.
Once you are confident in yourself and understand the importance of your craft, you will want to help and encourage others too. I never understood how all these people who have thousands of followers, only follow 20 people lol. What is the harm in following someone who follows you? It doesn’t hurt to follow someone else and encourage them every once in a while. You know how the saying goes “you get more bees with honey” No one wants to engage with someone who is stuck up and unfriendly. Now I know it can be difficult to respond to every single comment and “like” you have, but you can always take the time to share a smile and general thank you to EVERYONE who has ever supported you. I’m sure I have fallen short and missed a time or two, but I am grateful for everyone who takes the time to read my blog, write a comment or share my post because, they don’t have to.
I just want to encourage you (and myself) to always remain humble and remember why we started doing this in the first place. For me it’s my love for makeup, and helping others feel beautiful on the inside and outside.I want that to always be my focus because I love sharing beauty tips and writing these posts for you guys. 🙂 So thank you for reading, thank you for supporting and thank you for being the reason why I blog and making my page awesome!! Until next time…
